Current Breeding Rams
NSIP database link: 6400612019USD094
Birth Type: 2 Rear Type: 2 Codon 171: RR Click for Pedigree USD 19094 has some outstanding production traits. Owned by the USDA ARS Dale Bumpers Small Farm Research Center in Booneville, AR, we look forward to getting some nice lambs from this ram. This ram is incredibly well balanced with weaning weight growth in the top 5%, post weaning growth in the top 2%, milk/mothering almost in the top 10%, prolificacy in the top 10%, lamb survivability in the top 10%, and lounds of lamb weaned/ewe in the top 2%. This is balanced with some nice parasite resistance for the NW. To top it off, he comes from a forage based system with some nice easy-care forage based genetics in his pedigree. He has black hooves and a great hair coat. We used this ram last year and got some great lambs out of him. He is currently on top at a couple other NSIP flocks and will make his way back here soon. |
Past Breeding Rams
NSIP database link: 6400612015015124
Birth Type: 2 Rear Type: 2 Codon 171: RR Click for Pedigree USD 15-124 is an incredible proven ram. This sire has solid proven numbers for milk/mothering instinct, and those numbers are proven with many daughters. Purchased from Lee Wright with Rolling Spring Farm in VA, this ram brings not only fanstastic milk, but also nice fast early growth, good parasite resistance, all balanced with an average muscle depth, measured by ultrasound scanning. Lee used him in his flock and the Virginia Tech flock, and Dr. Fletcher with Beyond Blessed Farm used him in his flock as well. His son tied for second highest selling at the VA Tech SWAREC ram test for $2,700. This year, a grandson was the highest selling at $4,200 at that test as well. Both rams went to NSIP flocks. Between Lee's flock, the VA Tech flock, and Dr. Fletcher's flock, they plan on keeping around three dozen daughters. This guy already has high accuracies from his own provenness as well as the fact that his sire and especially grandsire were well proven as well. He brings genetics from grass-fed flocks, while also adding some exceptional frame and muscle. KRK 7202 Triplet/RR
NSIP ID: 6400682017KRK372 Muscle Man is one of the herd sires we used for the 2018 and 2019 lambing seasons. He has a great frame, decent growth rates balanced with a really low birth weight (top 3%), and excellent parasite resistance for the NW! Additionally, he has a nice blend of maternal traits. (He weighed 64 lbs. at 66 days and with his sisters produced a litter weight of 178 lbs in KRK's forage-based system.) He is out of LDK 16-45 from Lazy D Katahdins in Virginia. He has genetics from from 10 states and many recognized breeders. (Fahrmeier Katahdins, Buckeye Acres, KRK Katahdins, Pinto Ranch (VJ), White Post Farm (SWP), Jubilee Farm, Country Oak Ranch, Jessee Katahdins, Lazy D Ranch and more.) Sold to Roxanne Newton (GA) and David Coplen (MO) |

Birth Type:2 Rear Type: 2 Codon 171: RR KMC 18037 is one of the herd sires we used for the 2019 lambing season. This ram brought some exceptional early growth, and has a lot of potential for high milk production. He ranks within the top 2% for that trait. He is from Canfield Farms where he was out of one of Michelle's rams and a ewe from David Coplen (Birch Cove Farms) in Missouri. This ram is a very well balanced ram and one of the highest ram lambs for milk/mothering born in the NW in 2018. He is well balanced and meets the criteria for the National Sheep Improvement Program's Maternal and Stud Certification. We have retained multiple daughters and are excited to see how they produce. Additionally, we have sold a son to Iowa and a son to Colorado and Texas. We may be using him in the future, just are utilizing these rams from back East while we have them. PTK 0007 Twin/ (RR/QR)
NSIP ID: 6401872016PTK007 PTK 0007 was a twin ram that we retained out of CBR 0830 (see below). He was a twin raised twin out of a yearling that showed exceptional growth. He weighed 54 lbs. at 60 days and his brother (PTK 0006) weighed 53 producing a total of 107 lbs. weaned on forage only with no dewormers out of a yearling. While he grew well himself, his offspring did not seem to retain his growth, however, they did inherit some exceptional milk production. We retained several of his daughters before selling him and still have his dam in our breeding program. (a daughter of VJ 1133 and a grand daughter of VJ 6020) He weighed 125 lbs. at 7.5 months after being on grass pasture all summer with no dewormers and settled the ewes first time as a ram lamb. |
KRK 0996 Twin/(RR/QR)
NSIP ID: 64006820130SOF01 Gideon sired some very great ewes. His ewes are structurally correct with excellent milking, strong prolifacy, and exceptional hair coats. His ewes are very easy care, with parasite resistance, hooves that do not need trimming, and overall productive ewes that require low input. His ewes also produce lambs with smaller birth weights, making lambing easier. He produced some great ewes that work well crossed with a higher growth and parasite resistance ram that maintains their maternal traits. Additionally, he was NSIP maternal and stud certified. VJ 1133 Twin/RR
NSIP ID# 6401872011VJ1133 Dr. Livingston is a heavily-muscled, fast growing ram from the Pinto Ranch in Montana. (VJ) He is a grandson of Sampson and produces ewes that produce with excellent conformation, parasite resistance, and muscling. Kindra Messmer with the Pinto Ranch actually traded him back from his owner (Ray Crabtree) and, last I heard, is still using him today. We have several ewes out of him, and many ewes with his genetics. He made it to about 320 lbs. full grown, the picture is him as a lamb. |
VJ 6020 Twin/RR
NSIP ID# 6401872006VJ6020 Montana was the ram that sired the base of our original flock, we still have some ewes out of him that are very productive. Montana's ewes are fairly prolific with decent growth. His ewes have great frames, great hair coats, and heavily muscling. He was a grandson of Cccc 380N and BTS 445H Goliath. He weighed 340 lbs. fully grown. |
![]() CBR 0830 Twin/RR
NSIP ID# 6400682008000136 Raffle was a large, well-framed ram used by Crabtree Ranch. We have his genetics in a large number of our ewes and he sired our rams PTK 0006 and PTK 0007. He had great conformation and his lambs grew well on pasture. He produced very productive, large, heavy-milking ewes. |
